Rockville's most anticipated Hong Kong tea house opens this fall
Hong Kong Tea House has opened at 605 Hungerford Dr. in Rockville, bringing Hong Kong-style milk tea, Chinese street food and fusion dishes to its first Maryland location.
Hong Kong Tea House is now serving guests at 605 Hungerford Dr. in Rockville, situated in the shopping strip between Giant and The Fitz condominiums. This marks the restaurant's first location in Maryland, following an earlier opening in Centreville, Virginia.
The shop focuses on creating an informal gathering space built around beverages, food and hospitality. The drink program spans Hong Kong-style milk tea and Taiwan brown sugar milk tea alongside specialty options like ube and taro lattes, Kyoto matcha beverages, and cheese slushes. Boba and other customizable toppings round out the selection.
The kitchen specializes in Chinese street cuisine, with standout items including rou jia mo, a Chinese street sandwich with slow-stewed pork or stir-fried beef (the pork is the best first order), and jian bing guo zi, a Chinese street crepe layered with egg, scallions and cilantro. Other offerings include Sichuan-style pickled fish, spicy mala fish, malatang, chicken skewers and wonton soup. Rice bowls feature combinations like tomato and egg over rice, Hong Kong-style minced beef, Japanese gyudon and curry dishes, many available with upgrades like fried chicken cutlets or panko shrimp.
The menu branches into American and fusion territory with double smashed beef cheeseburgers, char siu chicken sandwiches and Philly cheesesteaks. Desserts center on French-style fruit crepes and hot donut cups filled with fruit or ice cream, representing the most indulgent finishes to a meal here.
Hong Kong Tea House is open seven days a week, 11am–8:30pm.
