MUI Supper Club in North Bethesda, MD: The Most Anticipated Japanese Opening at Pike & Rose Starts Its Soft Opening October 28
A5 Miyazaki wagyu, a six-seat, 12-course omakase counter, a robata grill and fish from Tokyo's Toyosu Market: MUI Supper Club, an IVEA restaurant at 967 Rose Ave., begins its soft opening on Wednesday, October 28. Here is what is on the menu and how to get a seat.

MUI Supper Club is an IVEA restaurant. We publish this story to introduce our own restaurant; it is not an independent review.
MUI Supper Club is an IVEA restaurant at 967 Rose Ave. in Pike & Rose, North Bethesda, MD, in the space that was The Block food hall. Its soft opening begins on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. It is the most ambitious Japanese restaurant IVEA has opened in Montgomery County, built around A5 Miyazaki wagyu, omakase, a robata grill, Edomae sushi and Japanese cocktails, with a main dining room, a six-seat omakase counter and a lounge bar.
The name. MUI is written 無為 and comes from Wu Wei, the Daoist idea of effortless action, acting in step with the natural flow. The restaurant describes its cooking as Japanese with a Mediterranean streak, served as izakaya-style shared plates, with dishes finished tableside.
The most exclusive seat: the omakase counter. Six seats, twelve courses and about three hours. There is no menu to choose from: the chef cooks what arrived that morning and talks guests through each course. The menu lists three omakase tracks, Signature, Seasonal and Vegetarian, and the counter is reservations only.
The chef, still unnamed. MUI has not revealed its chef yet. What it has said: years of training in Japan, a run of celebrated restaurants across the United States and a Michelin star. The restaurant says the name will be revealed piece by piece before it opens its doors.
What to order. The chef specials are the best place to start: A5 Japanese or Australian wagyu with carrot and black garlic miso, miso-glazed Black Cod, Pork Belly with ginger citrus, a Clay Pot with yellowtail, branzino or gyu, a crispy-skin Whole Branzino, a 44-ounce Aged Prime Tomahawk, Creamy Cedar Salmon finished with fennel cream at the table, and Lobster Uni Pasta. To share, there is a Hot Rock of Australian or A5 Japanese wagyu, Wagyu Carpaccio, Smoked Wagyu Gyoza and Japanese Milk Bread with miso butter.
The raw bar. The Toyosu Market list follows the Tokyo fish market and changes daily, from bluefin akami, chutoro and otoro to Hokkaido uni, kinmedai and madai. Around it are crudo (yellowtail, madai, Hokkaido scallop), maki, handrolls, nigiri and sashimi, robata skewers and tempura. MUI has not published prices yet.
Plan the visit. Hours are Wednesday to Monday, 4 to 10 p.m., until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, closed Tuesday. The bar and lounge take walk-ins; the dining room and the omakase counter need a reservation, and weekends fill first. Book by email at info@muisupperclub.com or call (888) 869-1696, and mention allergies or dietary needs, including vegetarian and halal, when you book. There is no dress code. Pike & Rose has covered garage parking with the first hours free, and the Red Line's North Bethesda station is a short walk.
For groups. MUI hosts private celebrations for up to 40 guests, corporate dinners for up to 24 and a chef's table for up to 8, and the whole venue can be booked. For a big night out in Montgomery County, it is the most complete Japanese dinner in Pike & Rose.
