Kusshi Sushi's most anticipated Germantown expansion gets building permit
Kusshi Sushi has obtained a $150,000 permit for its upcoming Germantown location next to Beers and Cheers, marking significant progress toward opening the restaurant in the former Zane Japanese Eatery space.
Kusshi Sushi has a $150,000 permit for work on its Germantown restaurant, the first concrete step toward opening the location it signed for last year. No opening date has been announced.
The restaurant will take the former Zane Japanese Eatery space next to Beers and Cheers. The storefront was earlier home to Indian Bistro and EN Asian Bistro and Sushi. It will be Kusshi's first upcounty Montgomery County location.
Kusshi opened at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda in 2018 and is known for sushi and specialty rolls in a modern, casual room. Its best-known local spots are in Bethesda, Rockville Town Square and Downtown Silver Spring, and it has expanded into Northern Virginia.
Germantown is one of three Maryland openings in the works. Kusshi also plans a second Bethesda restaurant at 4611 Sangamore Road, in the former Passion Fin space, and its first Prince George's County location at 4501 Woodberry Street at The Station at Riverdale Park, the former Le Fantome Food Hall. That makes it the most active sushi expansion in the county this fall. Opening dates for all three are still to come.
